Minimally invasive transperineal deployment
The biodegradable BioProtect Spacer is deployed in a quick and minimally invasive transperineal technique into the prostate-rectum interspace using a proprietary insertion device.
The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and guided by transrectal ultrasound.
Once the balloon is in situ, it is inflated with sterile saline to reach the desired final configuration.
The balloon implant remains inflated during the entire treatment period and completely biodegrades after six months.
A SIMPLE AND SAFE DEPLOYMENT PROCEDURE
The Blunt dissection Procedure ensures implantation safety
After initial needle insertion, blunt dissection is performed using a plastic dilator under the rectoprostatic fascia (Denonvillier’s fascia). The needle stops at prostate apex and sheath advanced to prostate base.
Avoiding needle near the rectal wall to reduce the risk of rectal wall injury.
